Abstract

Purpose: This study was to identify the acculturation behavior to determine affecting factors in marriage migrant women. Methods: The subjects were 120 of international marriage migrant women who voluntarily participated in the study in D city. Data were collected from Feb to April 2011 by questionnaire survey. The instrument used for this study was the EAAM (The East Asian Acculturation Measure) scale. Analysis of data was done by use of frequency, percentage, Chi-square test and logistic regression with SPSS program. Results: 63.3% of subjects were exposed to the low level of acculturation behavior. Factors that affected the acculturation were significantly different according to the duration of residence and the standard of living. Subjects who resided more than five years more highly affected on the acculturation behavior than those of less than five years. Subjects who were living with high economical status more highly affected on the acculturation behavior than those of low economical status. Conclusion: These results suggest that adaptative level is an important
variable in the acculturation behavior. These findings may give useful information for developing acculturation programs focused on adaptative level in the international marriage migrant women.
